Bag production is a specialised branch of manufacturing with demanding stages. In this article we look at the first steps of production and the part cutting presses play in them.
Types of bags
Bags fall into the following main groups:
- Fashion bags
- Sports bags
- Handbags
- Backpacks
- Evening bags
In line with orthopaedic specialists' advice on posture, backpacks, which allow the load to be carried in a balanced way, have been chosen more often in recent years.
Production starts with the die
Even a small bag starts with cutting dies; the number of dies ranges from 2 to 5. Defining the dies is the designer's job. Details such as stones, accessories and the number of compartments matter at this stage.
The cutting stage
Two types of cutting press are used in the first steps of bag manufacturing: the travelling head cutting press and the swing-arm cutting press. Dies are prepared to the specified dimensions and the material is cut with them. The press force of these machines is generally between 16 and 25 tons. Some manufacturers prefer a travelling head, others a swing arm.
Why choose a travelling head cutting press?
- It is well suited to series production.
- It has a long service life; Piton Makina travelling head presses are comfortable to operate.
- The user interface is simple.
- Options such as automatic head retraction are available.
- It is shipped filled with oil and ready for use.
- It can cut materials that look difficult to cut, laid up in several layers.
- Spare parts are easy to find and long-lasting.
- It gives your workshop a professional appearance.
